Overview

Account Assist is the administrative tool used by ITS to verify a user and perform an administrative password reset.  Technicians are also able to utilize the tool to view student details, such as course enrollment and student printing credit.

Procedure

Access Account Assist

Open a web browser and type in https://javawebappi.ccbcmd.edu/AccountAssist/#!.

On the login screen, enter your username, and then select Login.

Search for an account

You can search for an account using several criteria. The AND/OR qualifiers between the fields indicate whether more than one field can be used in the same search. After information is entered in one field, fields that cannot be used with it will become unavailable. The following list explains each search option and the buttons displayed on the page:

  • Banner ID:The Banner ID must be entered exactly and must be used as a single search field.

  • User ID: The User ID must be entered exactly and must be used as a single search field.

  • Last Name: : A partial last name may be entered and combined with the First Name field.

  • First Name: A partial first name may be entered and combined with the Last Name field.

  • Clear: Select Clear to remove the information from the search fields and start over.

  • Select Search to search using the entered criteria.Search:

Review Search Results

The search results will be displayed. If the search returns a large number of accounts, you can narrow the list by entering additional information in the search box under Search Results

Choose the appropriate account using the Select button.

Review Account information

On the Account Information screen, you can access the Demographics, Affiliation, Details, Active Directory, and Identity Verification sections. Each section is described below.

Demographics

In the Demographics section, you will see the Banner ID, username, full name, preferred name, gender, date of birth, last four digits of the Social Security number, home phone, cell phone, home email address, preferred email address, and home address. This information is extremely sensitive and should be used only to verify the user’s identity.

Affiliation

In the Affiliation section, you will see the user’s primary affiliation with the college and the applicable status code for staff, faculty, or student. See the related Status Codes article.

Details

Select the plus sign next to the Details heading to expand the section and view additional student information. This section may display the student email, LMS email, last registered term, last credit application date, last application status, and latest major or curriculum.

Select Show Academic Details to access additional academic information for the student.

Academic details

A new popup window will appear to show more information, including courses the student was recently enrolled in, courses registered for, the method for how the course is offered, how much print credit they received from each course, their hold status, and print credit balance for student printing.

Active directory

In the Active Directory section, you will see the organizational unit where the account is located, the account or employee type, the phone number or email address listed in Active Directory, the date the password was last changed, the account status, and the contact information used to verify QuickLaunch MFA.

Identity Verification

In the Identity Verification section, you can send a soft token to the user’s cell phone or email address on file. A soft token is a verification code that the user receives and provides to the technician as an additional identity-verification step.

Note: Select Override only when a soft token cannot be used and the user’s identity has been confirmed.

Validate the token and Reset the password

After selecting a soft-token delivery option, enter the code provided by the user and select Validate Token. If the user does not receive the code, select Resend Token.

If the code provided is correct, the Reset Password button will appear after you select Validate Token. Select Reset Password.

The new password will be displayed for you to provide to the user.
