Overview
CCBC employs multi-factor authentication (MFA) to ensure that your information is protected. Multi-factor authentication requires that you enter not only your username and password, but also several pieces of information to confirm your identity when you login to CCBC systems. This page details the process you will use to set up your multi-factor authentication for the first time.
Procedure
- Go to the CCBC homepage, then select myCCBC in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
- At the bottom of the Sign in box on the right-hand side, select First Time User.
- Enter your CCBC ID number (starts with 900 or 901), then select Next.
- Enter your CCBC username, then select Submit.
- In Account Recovery Settings, set up at least 2 of the recovery methods below.
These options are:
SECURITY QUESTIONS (This option must be completed)
- For each of the 5 security questions, select a question from the list and then enter an answer in the blank provided.
To enter a custom question, click the icon to the right of any of the questions and type your custom question in the blank.
- After choosing the 5 security questions and putting in the 5 answers, select Submit.
- This will set the security questions for recovery. Click on another recovery method tab to setup the next one.
All five security questions MUST be filled out!
Make sure that you enter an answer that you will be able to remember.
EMAIL RECOVERY
- On the Email Recovery tab, enter an email address under Primary email address and select Verify.
- You will receive an email at the address provided that will provide you with a code.
- Add the verification code that you received and select Submit.
- Your email recovery option is now set.
PHONE RECOVERY
- On the phone recovery tab, choose the country code for the phone number of the cell (United States is "+1".
- Enter your phone number, including area code, in the format: 0000000000 (using no symbols).
- Select Verify.
- A verification code will be texted to the cell phone.
Enter this verification code into the Verify your phone number field, then click "Submit".
- Once it is verified, you will see a screen that shows your phone number and the option to update.
This means you have successfully setup your phone number as a recovery option.
AUTHENTICATOR RECOVERY
- On the Authenticator tab, select Get Started.
- Under Choose a Security Method, select Next.
You will then be provided with both a QR code and an alphanumeric setup key.
- In the Authenticator app on your phone, select + and select either Scan a QR code or Enter a setup key.
- If you select Scan a QR code, simply aim the camera square at the QR code provided.
- If you select Enter a setup key, enter your Account name and the setup key provided.
- This will add ccbcmd to your Authenticator app.
- Back on the computer, select Next.
- Under Enter Confirmation Code, enter the six-digit confirmation code from your Authenticator app and select Register Authenticator.
- If you see the green checkmark on the Authenticator square, your Google Authenticator is configured for use as a recovery option.
- Once you have setup at least 2 of the recovery options, Go to My Apps in the bottom right corner will become active.
Select it to complete the recovery setup process and go to your apps page.
- After selecting Go to My Apps, you will be taken to a page that lists the different applications that you can access through the portal, such as Brightspace. Select the desired app to be taken to that site.
