Backing up folders to OneDrive

Overview

ITS will no longer be performing data migration when replacing faculty and staff devices.  Faculty and Staff can utilize OneDrive to backup files that they may have saved to their local desktop, documents, and photos/pictures folder.  This article provides the instructions for turning that on within the OneDrive Sync App and managing those settings.

Procedure

Microsoft maintains up-to-date instructions on how to setup and manage the settings for backing up your folders to OneDrive.  You can access those instructions on Microsoft's Back up your Folders with OneDrive page.  Once you have turned this feature on, you will be able to access files that you saved on that device's desktop, documents folder, and photos/pictures folder.

ITS will not do any data migration from the old device to the new device.  Employees who may have files stored on the local device must have this feature setup and their files stored within the specific folders if they wish to access those files on the new device.

Needing instructions for macOS?  You can find those on Microsoft's Back up your Folder with OneDrive - macOS page.
