This article will guide the user on how to fix certain Brightspace issues that occur during different phases of the school year.

Beginning of the semester:
The following topic(s) are issues that Faculty encounter at the beginning of the semester.
Mass Course Merge Request
If requesting to merge 3 or more courses together, the attached form should be completed. Once completed, it should be uploaded in the Course Merge Request Form. That service can be found under the related services section of this page.
Pinning Courses in My Courses Widget
Pinning a course in the My Courses widget allows you to keep the most recent courses at the top of the widget.
To pin a course in Brightspace
- Log into Brightspace and scroll down to the My Courses widget
- Move your mouse to the course you want to pin, and hover over the right corner of the course banner
- Click on the box with the three dots
- From the drop-down menu, select Pin
Once You no longer need to access a course on a regular basis, you can unpin your course, using the steps below.
- Log into Brightspace and scroll down to the My Courses widget
- Move your mouse to the course that you want to remove the pin, and hover over the right corner of the course banner
- Click on the box with the three dots
- From the drop-down menu, select Unpin
Courses not Showing up in Brightspace
If the course you are teaching is not showing up in your My Courses widget in Brightspace, please verify the following:
- You are assigned as the Primary Instructor of the course in Banner
- Check with Registration to make sure the course is NOT on hold in Banner or if students might need to meet certain requirements or prerequisites before the course will be open
- In Banner, the integration partner is set to D2L
- Once the above steps have been taken, you should find your course in Brightspace
- Do a search for your course in Brightspace, using the waffle menu at the top of your Brightspace Welcome page
- If you do find your course after doing a search, you might want to pin the course in the My Courses widget.

If you have checked all the above and still cannot find the course you are teaching in Brightspace, please open a CCBC Help Desk ticket for Online Learning
Making Courses Active in Brightspace
Faculty, please make sure that your Brightspace courses are open to students, a week before the semester starts.
To make your course active for students:

Once inside your Brightspace course, click on Course Tools from the navbar

Click on the Course Admin link

From the Course Administration screen, click on Course Offering Information

Scroll down to Active and click on the check box, then click Save

Students not Removed from Merged Courses in Brightspace
If students have been removed from your roster in Banner but are still shown in the classlist of your merged course in Brightspace please open a CCBC Help Desk ticket for Online Learning and included the following information.
- Student’s first and last name
- Student’s 900#
- The course section the student was registered for
- If possible, the name of the merged course, or the CRNs of the merged courses
End of the Semester:

Clearing Student Quiz Attempt in Brightspace
To remove a previous quiz attempt that a student has made, please follow the instructions below:

Navigate to the Grade Quiz page of the quiz in question.

Select the checkbox next to the attempt you want to delete.

Click the Reset icon.

In the confirmation box that displays, click Yes.
