Beginning of the semester:
The following topic(s) are issues that students encounter at the beginning of the semester.
Barnes and Nobles First Day
If your course materials are through Barnes & Noble First Day, and you experience any issues with accessing your material through Barnes & Noble College, please contact support.
Pinning Courses in My Courses Widget
Pinning a course in the My Courses widget allows you to keep the most recent courses at the top of the widget.
To pin a course in Brightspace
- Log into Brightspace and scroll down to the My Courses widget
- Move your mouse to the course you want to pin, and hover over the right corner of the course banner
- Click on the box with the three dots
- From the drop-down menu, select Pin
Once You no longer need to access a course on a regular basis, you can unpin your course, using the steps below.
- Log into Brightspace and scroll down to the My Courses widget
- Move your mouse to the course that you want to remove the pin, and hover over the right corner of the course banner
- Click on the box with the three dots
- From the drop-down menu, select Unpin
Con-ED Zoom Courses not showing up in Brightspace
Not all CCBC Con-Ed Zoom courses have a Brightspace course associated with them. If you are not seeing your Brightspace Zoom course in your My Courses widget, please contact your instructor or CCBC’s Continuing Education Department.
Current Semester Course not showing up in Brightspace
If your course or courses are not currently displayed in your My Courses widget in Brightspace, please check the following before opening a CCBC Help Desk ticket for Online Learning.
- If it is the week prior to the course start date, and you do not see your course in the My Courses widget, contact your instructor and verify that they have made their course active to students
- If your instructor has made the course active to students, verify with your instructor that the course has not been merged with another course(s)
- Verify with the Registration Department that you have correctly enrolled in your course(s), and that there are no holds or flags on your account
- For Con-Ed students taking a Zoom course, please verify with Con-Ed that the Zoom course has a Brightspace course associated with it
Brightspace Content not Loading
There are a number of different steps you can take to attempt to troubleshoot these issues. Try each step in order and check the page or resource you are trying to view after each step to see if it was successful.
- Reload your browser page.
- Log out of Brightspace and clear your browser cache and cookies.
- Try accessing the Brightspace resource in another browser.
- Check with the instructor to ensure that you and others have access to the resource in question.
End of the Semester:

Completed Courses Still Showing Up in Brightspace
If you have completed courses or prior semester courses in your Brightspace My Courses widget, please contact your instructor and request that they make these courses inactive to students and have the correct end date set.
If your instructor verifies the course(s) are inactive to students and have the correct end date, please ask your instructor to open a CCBC Help Desk ticket for Online Learning.
