Respondus Lockdown Browser (PC/Mac)

Overview

Respondus Lockdown Browser is a tool used by many instructors at CCBC to securely administer tests. Once it is downloaded onto your PC or Mac, you should be able to use it to access any assessments or assignments that require it. Note that the instructions below for downloading Respondus Lockdown Browser DO NOT work for Chromebooks or mobile devices. Please bear in mind that Respondus Lockdown Browser downloads are unique to each institution. Downloading Respondus Lockdown Browser from a link other than the one in the instructions document below may result in the software not working.

Downloading and Using Lockdown Browser

Step 1: Download

Go to this download link specifically for LockDown Browser at CCBC. On the right-hand side of the screen, confirm that it says "Install LockDown Browser for: Community College of Baltimore County", then click the "Install Now" button and follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation.

Step 2: Access Exams

Once the installation is completed, log into Brightspace (CCBC's learning management system) and navigate to the exam, quiz, or assessment that requires LockDown Browser. The LockDown Browser will automatically start when you attempt to access an assessment that has been set up to require the locked browser environment.
