Overview
This article will guide the user on setting up a Dental Lab computer.

Procedure
Use the dropdown menus below to access the installation guides.
Map Network Drive
-
Open File Explorer, right click on This PC on the left pane and select Map network drive.
-
In the Map Network drive Window enter the following information:
-
Drive: S.
-
Folder: \\dwdental1\softdent.
-
Check Reconnect at sign-in and Connect using different credentials.
-
Click Finish.

-
After you click finish a Network Connections window will open.
-
Username: dentaladmin.
-
Password: (redacted for security reasons).
-
Select Remember my credentials.
-
Click OK.

Installing Sofdent Software
-
Navigate to the S: Drive.
-
Open the Wsetup folder.
-
Run NGWSetup – Shortcut.
-
Next at welcome screen.
-
Verify the destination folder is C:\SoftDent – Click Next.
-
The InstallShield will automatically close when installation is complete.
-
Right click on the CS SoftDent Software shortcut on the desktop.
-
In the Target field, type -sus at the end of the path C:\SoftDent\SDWIN.EXE.

-
An access denied message will appear, click on continue.
-
Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and launch PWClient.exe.

In the PracticeWorks Client Options window, click Options.
-
In the second PracticeWorks Client Options window, type in the following:
-
PracticeWorks Server Path: \\dwdental1\softdent\PWSvr
-
File System Message Timeout: 15.
-
Mailslot Message Timeout: 5.
-
Click OK.
-
Click Close.
-
Launch CS SoftDent Software.
-
A Windows Security message will appear, click on Allow to add the firewall exception.
Dental Imaging Software Installation
-
Open Microsoft Edge and type http://dwdental1 in the address bar.

-
There will be 3 options, select download next to CS Imaging 8 to download the installation media.
-
Launch SetupCSImagingClient_202608181523.exe either from the Microsoft Edge download button or from the downloads folder in the profile.
-
Click OK at the Please select a language window (this will come up twice).
-
At the welcome screen, select Next.
-
At the License agreement window, select I Agree.
-
In the Choose Components window, Keep the default (CS Imaging 8). No other selection is needed. Click Next.
-
In the Choose Installation Location window, ensure that C:\TW is in the Destination Folder field. Click Install.
-
Installation will take several minutes.
Sensor and Camera Driver Installation
-
Navigate to S:\IT Backup\Drivers.
-
Run SetupRVG – 4.6.21.5.exe.
-
Click Yes at the User Account Control (UAC) window.
-
At the Installer Language window, click OK.
-
At the welcome screen, click OK. Do not select Demo mode.
-
At the Choose Components screen, select all options (RVG 5100/6100, RVG 142/5200/6200, TWAIN) and click Install.
-
A Windows Security Message will appear for Carestream Universal Serial Bus devices. Ensure Always trust software from ‘Trophy SAS is selected and click Install.
-
When installation is complete, click Finish.
-
Open the CS1x00 3.1.49 folder and run Setup.exe.
-
Click Yes at the UAC prompt.
-
At the Installer Language Window, select OK.
-
At the License Agreement window, select I Agree.
-
On the Choose Components screen, ensure all options are checked and click Install.
-
When the installation is complete, click close.
All sensors and cameras will need to be plugged into every computer to initialize. The Dental staff will handle that.
Post Installation Tasks
-
Have a Dental staff member log into SoftDent.
-
When SoftDent is logged in for the first time, an Image record scanning progress bar with be displayed. This will take a while to run as it has to import all the images from the server. Could be upwards to 30 minutes.
-
After the image records scanning is complete, a message may come up that says “To properly display images in SoftDent you must run the Trophy R&A SDK Installer. Click OK to continue.

The UAC window will come up in the background, click on the shield on the taskbar and click Yes on the UAC prompt.
-
In the Trophy R&A SDK 8.0.2.5 setup window, keep the default destination folder and select install.
-
Installation will take several minutes.
-
Click Close when complete.
Pan Room Dent 109 Computer Installation
-
Install everything as instructed above.
-
Navigate to S:\IT Backup\KAVO Pan\Instrumentarium\ID Twain 5.1.31.
-
Run InstrumentariumUSATWAINSetup 5.1.31.exe.
-
At the UAC Prompt, click Yes.
-
At the Welcome window, select Next.
-
When installation is complete, click Finish.
KaVo Pan Device Driver Setup
-
Navigate to S:\IT Backup\Drivers\Kavo Pan.
-
Run KaVoDriverInstaller.exe.
-
At the UAC Prompt, click Yes.
-
At the Welcome screen, select Next.
-
At the Please select one of the following window, check I am installing drivers for a 2D device and click next.
-
At the Install KaVo Connect window, deselect Install KaVo Connect and click next.
-
At the Start Copying Files window, select Next.
-
A Test Image Processing Result dialog box will be displayed. Ensure the 2D modality test says Passed and click OK.
-
When the installation is complete, click finish to restart the computer.
-
Setup KaVo OP 2D.
-
Open SoftDent as Administrator and navigate to a customer.
-
Select CareStream Imaging to open CS Imaging.
-
Click on the TWAIN button in the top toolbar.
-
On the left side, click on options.
-
In the Instrumentarium Dental and Soredex TWAIN Options. Check everything but Generate a log file. Under Immediately proceed uwith acquiring a new image, select Panoramic in the drop-down menu.
-
Select the Support Hardware tab on the left.
-
Check Enable Panoramic hardware (deselect everything else).
-
Under Extraoral Hardware, click OP30.
-
In the Pan settings on the left bar, scroll down to Hardware Setup under OP30 Advanced Options.
-
Click on the settings tab in the OP30 Setup box and select the IP Based bullet. Click the enable changing IP Address and type in 192.168.83.23 and select Send to Device.

Click on the Device tab and ensure the status shows.

PCS 7600 Driver Installation
-
Navigate to S:\IT Backup\Drivers\CS7600.
-
Run setup.exe.
-
At the UAC Prompt, click Yes.
-
In the Installation Wizard splash screen, select the Run Installation Wizard button.
-
At the IP Image Acquisition – InstallShield Wizard dialog box, click Install.
-
At the IP Image Acquisition screen, click Next.
-
At Destination Folder screen, click next.
-
At the Room/Workstation name screen, keep defaults and click next.
-
At the Ready to Install the Program window, click Install.
-
At IP Image Acquisition (New Scanner files are available) window, click next.
-
When the installation is complete, click Finish.
-
At the Installation Wizard Completed window, click Finish.
