Question: How do I access my classes on Brightspace?
Answer: Log into myCCBC and click Brightspace located in the Quick Links section. To troubleshoot issues with logging into and/or accessing Brightspace, refer to Troubleshooting Common Issues within Brightspace.
Question: Is there an orientation program for new students?
Answer: Yes, CCBC offers online and in-person orientation sessions for new degree and credit certificate seeking students. Some CE programs offer a program-specific orientation; check the program requirements online or call 443-840-2222 to speak with Student Central.
Question: When do I sign-up for orientation?
Answer: Yes, CCBC offers online and in-person orientation sessions for new students.
Question: Where can I get my CCBC OneCard?
Answer: Students can visit any Enrollment Services Center at Catonsville, Essex, Dundalk, and Owings Mills.
Question: When can I get my CCBC OneCard?
Answer: Students can receive a OneCard once they are registered for a Continuing Education (CE) or credit course and can provide a valid picture ID.
Question: Where can I use my CCBC OneCard?
Answer:
- Campus identification (ESC, Testing Center, campus events, etc.)
- Shuttle bus access
- Gym/pool access
- Library for printing and checking out books
- Bookstore (if financial aid has been authorized)
- Café purchases (money or meal plan must be added through SIMON)
Question: What do I do if I lose my OneCard?
Answer:
- Report to the Bursar’s Office and pay the $10 replacement fee.
- Bursar will deactivate the current card and assign a new card number.
- Students can visit the ESC with a photo ID to receive a replacement.
Question: How much does a OneCard cost?
Answer: The first OneCard is free. Replacement cards cost $10.
Question: What do I do if my OneCard is damaged or doesn’t work?
Answer: If a card is damaged or no longer scans due to fading, a free replacement may be issued. You must bring your damaged card into one of the ESC centers.
Question: How do I get an Alumni OneCard?
Answer: Students must present their approved Alumni Association application and a valid photo ID at the ESC.
Question: When does registration open for upcoming terms?
Answer:
- March: Summer and Fall
- October: Winter and Spring
Question: How do I register for classes?
Answer: Students can register through SIMON or submit a registration form to the ESC. It is recommended to meet with an advisor before registering.
Question: How do I add or drop a class?
Answer: Before the semester begins, students can use SIMON to make changes. After the semester begins, a signed add/drop form must be submitted to the ESC.
Question: Where can I find registration deadlines?
Answer: Deadlines are available on the Academic Calendar page of the CCBC website.
Question: How do I check my enrollment status?
Answer: Students can log in to SIMON to check their enrollment status.
Question: What if I haven’t attended in over a year?
Answer: Students returning after more than a year should meet with an advisor to confirm their major and update contact information.
Question: What is a CRN?
Answer: A CRN (Course Reference Number) is a unique 5-digit number used for course registration. Students should always reference the correct CRN to avoid registration errors.
Question: What should I do if I receive an error message when trying to register?
Answer: Students should contact an academic advisor, ESC staff, or the Registrar’s Office.
Question: How do I find out if I have any holds?
Answer: Holds can be found in SIMON or by contacting the ESC or Registrar’s Office.
Question: Why can’t I register for a course that requires a prerequisite?
Answer: Students must consult an advisor to ensure all prerequisites are met or to discuss options.
Question: What happens if a course is canceled?
Answer: Students should work with an academic advisor to register for an alternative course.
Question: What if a course requires instructor permission?
Answer: The instructor or program coordinator should be contacted to discuss registration.
Question: How do I request an official transcript?
Answer: Official transcripts can be ordered online through Parchment or by completing a transcript request form and paying $12 at the Bursar’s Office.
Question: How do I get an unofficial transcript?
Students can log in to SIMON or request one at the ESC.
Question: How much does a transcript cost?
Answer: Transcript fees are $12 per copy. There may be an additional tax through Parchment.
Question: How long will it take to receive my transcript?
Answer: Parchment orders process within 24 hours. Mailed copies take 3–5 business days plus USPS delivery time. In-person copies are available after payment.
Question: What if I have issues with a transcript request?
Answer: Students should email CCBCregistrar@ccbcmd.edu.
Question: How do I send my transcript to another college?
Answer: Use Parchment or submit a paper transcript request to the Registrar’s Office.
Question: Why isn’t my grade showing in SIMON?
Answer: Grades may not be posted yet. Students should refer to the Academic Calendar for grade submission deadlines.
Question: How do I update my address or phone number?
Answer: Submit a Change of Information Form to the ESC or Registrar’s Office.
Question: How do I change my name in CCBC’s system?
Answer: Submit a Change of Student Information Form with supporting documentation.
Question: How do I add or update a preferred name?
Answer: Submit a form to the ESC or update your preferred name in SIMON via myCCBC.
Question: How do I get proof of enrollment for insurance or job purposes?
Answer: Submit an Enrollment Verification Form to the ESC or email CCBCregistrar@ccbcmd.edu.
Question: How do I change my major?
Answer: Meet with an advisor and submit a Change of Major form before the third week of the semester.
Question: I live in Baltimore County but was charged out-of-county tuition.
Answer: Submit two proofs of Baltimore County residency along with a Change of Information Form before the third week of the term.
Question: What are the deadlines to withdraw or change classes?
Answer: Students should refer to the Academic Calendar.
Question: What happens when I withdraw from a course?
Answer: Students receive a "W" on their transcript and are still responsible for 100% of the course cost. Withdrawing may affect financial aid, veteran’s benefits, or visa status.
Question: What if I need to withdraw from all of my classes?
Answer:Students should meet with an advisor and submit an add/drop form to the ESC or email CCBCregistrar@ccbcmd.edu.
Question: Do I need to request a leave of absence?
Answer: Usually not, unless the student is in a health professions program. In that case, the program coordinator must be contacted.
Question: How do I submit a refund appeal?
Answer: Submit a Registration Appeal Form with documentation via email email to the CCBCregistrar@ccbcmd.edu.
Question: How do I request a grade change?
Answer: Students must first contact their instructor.
Question: What happens if I’m on academic probation?
Answer: Students on probation may take 7 credits or fewer in the next semester.
Question: How do I transfer in credits from another institution?
Answer: Submit official transcripts and a Transcript Evaluation Form. Visit the CCBC website for more information.
Question: How do I track my degree progress?
Answer: Use Degree Works in myCCBC or meet with an advisor.
Question: What does it mean to audit a course?
Answer: Auditing a course means attending without earning a grade. Must be indicated on the registration form. No GPA impact.
Question: How do I appeal academic probation or dismissal?
Answer: Students should consult with an academic advisor or Student Retention & Transition Services.
Question: How do I register for more than 18 credits?
Answer: General Studies majors can meet with an advisor. Other majors should get permission from the program coordinator.
Question: How do I know if I’m ready to graduate?
Answer: Complete program requirements and submit a Graduation Application form with the required fee.
Question: How much does it cost to graduate?
Answer:
- Degree: $75
- Certificate: $50
Question: When are graduation applications due?
Answer:
- Spring: March 15
- Summer: May 15
- Fall: September 15
Question: How long does it take to receive a diploma?
Answer: Diplomas are mailed via Parchment 6–8 weeks after the end of the semester.
Question: How do I check my degree progress?
Answer: Use Degree Works or meet with an advisor.
Question: How do I join the Alumni Association?
Answer: Complete the application at www.ccbcmd.edu/alumni.
Question: Can I register if I owe money?
Answer: Students owing less than $250 can register. If the balance is $250 or more, the student must contact the Bursar’s Office.
Question: What if I have an ID verification hold?
Answer: Students must email IDVerification@ccbcmd.edu with a government-issued photo ID and two proofs of residency.
Question: How do I resolve a hold?
Answer: ESC staff can identify hold types and help students contact the correct department.
Question: How do I get an enrollment verification?
Answer: Submit an Enrollment Verification Form in person or email CCBCregistrar@ccbcmd.edu.
Question: What is FERPA?
Answer: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects student education records. Only the student and persons having a signed FERPA form on file may receive or request information from their records.
FERPA rights include:
- The right to inspect and review education records.
- The right to request amendment of incorrect records.
- The right to limit disclosure of personal information.
- The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education.
