This article will provide a guide on naming a server.

Procedure

Systems Engineering will follow the below standards for server naming convention for all new server builds.

<Campus Letter><Operating System Letter(s)><Full name of application assuming it doesn’t exceed limits><T for Test nothing for Prod and we don’t have a Pre-Prod designation><# if more than one of the same name>

Example for windows:

Test: cwtransformt     Production: cwtransform or cwtransform1 or cwtransform2

Example for Linux:

Test: cltransformt       Production: cltransform  or cltransform1 or cltransform2
