Once it is installed on your Chromebook, you should be able to use it to access any assessments or assignments that require it. Note that the instructions below for downloading Respondus Lockdown Browser DO NOT work for PC, Mac, or mobile devices. Please bear in mind that Respondus Lockdown Browser downloads are unique to each institution. Downloading Respondus Lockdown Browser from a link other than the one in the instructions document below may result in the software not working.
Procedure
- Log into the Chromebook and start Google Chrome
- Go to this download link for LockDown Browser (this link is unique to each institution); you will automatically be redirected to the Chrome Web Store.
- From the Chrome Web Store, select “Add to Chrome” to install the LockDown Browser Extension
- Log into Brightspace and navigate to the exam that requires LockDown Browser
- The LockDown Browser extension will be started automatically when an assessment requires it
Note: During the beta, this extension will only work with assessments an instructor has enabled for use with LockDown Browser for Chromebook. If you are having an issue with accessing an assessment in Lockdown Browser using a Chromebook, you should contact your instructor to verify that the assessment was enabled for use with Lockdown Browser for Chromebook.
