Question: What are dual credit courses?
Answer: Dual Credit courses allow you to take college-level courses that earn you both high school and college credit simultaneously!
Question: Where can I find a list of approved dual credit courses?

Question: Will I receive high school credit for dual credit courses I take?
Answer: Yes, if you're successful in your dual credit courses, you will receive high school credit. Just ensure you're enrolled in an approved dual credit course.
Question: How are dual credit courses graded compared to high school courses?
Answer: Dual credit courses are graded on the same level as an AP course.

Question: How does dual credit affect my high school graduation requirements?
Answer: Most approved dual credit courses count toward your high school graduation requirements. This could allow you to graduate early or free up space for electives and extracurricular activities.
Question: Which courses are available for high school students?
Answer: High school students can enroll in any course for which they meet the prerequisites.
Question: Is there a limit to the number of courses I can take?
Answer: Traditional students can enroll in up to 14 credits in the summer, 7 in the winter, and 18 in the fall and spring. Dual enrollment students may have credit limits based on their ECAP program. Funding: BCPS CCR students are eligible for a 100% tuition waiver for up to two courses in the fall and spring semesters during their junior and senior years.
Question: How do I choose which classes to take?
Answer: Meet with your high school counselor and/or an academic advisor for course planning assistance.
Question: What is the process for registering for courses?
- Answer: Steps include logging into myCCBC, navigating to SIMON, searching for courses, adding courses to your cart, reviewing and confirming your choices, and then completing registration.

Question: What should I do if my dual enrollment class is scheduled at the same time as a high school class?
Answer: If your college class conflicts with your high school schedule, you should drop the college course immediately.
Question: Can I attend classes online or on-campus?
Answer: Yes, CCBC offers both online and on-campus courses, allowing you to choose the format that best fits your needs.
Question: Can I drop a dual enrollment course after the semester starts?
Answer: Yes, you can withdraw from a course after the start date; however, charges may apply, and a "W" will appear on your transcript.
Question: What should I do if I need to withdraw from a dual enrollment course?
Answer: You can withdraw online via SIMON before the class starts. After the semester begins, withdraw in person or by emailing the CCBC Registrar's Office.
Question: How will my dual credit courses appear on my high school transcript?
Answer: Dual credits will appear on your high school transcript with the code COLL: (course taken).
Question: What happens if I do not complete a dual credit course successfully?
Answer: Failure to complete the course successfully will affect both your high school and college GPAs, and the course will appear on both your transcripts.
Question: Do I need to request a transcript to have my dual credit transferred back to my high school?
Answer: CCBC will automatically share your grades with BCPS. You can print an unofficial transcript through SIMON if needed.
Question: What are the attendance policies for dual-enrolled students?
Answer: Attendance is required for all courses, as participation and attendance impact your grade.
