Advising Checklist

    New Students: (check in SFARHST if student is new or already have an ID#

 Confirm Major- Using (SGATDN)

1. For CE programs handle accordingly. 

2. Credit Programs and Undecided

• Check for holds in (SOAHOLD)

These holds are the only holds (with the 12/31/9999 end date) that go to advisement

o OL “Online Program” – advisors verify if the student is a CCBC Online student; they can also be referred to Murry Baskerville at mbaskerville@ccbcmd.edu

o HS “Holistic Success Advisement” – student is assigned to an advisor’s caseload

 

• Do they have placement test? (English & Math for credit students)- Check in SOATEST to see if testing was completed.

o If YES testing was completed, connect student with Advising. Direct them to 3833 or the advising wed page web page     

o If no testing was done, email student link to:    Do I need to take CCBC's placement tools?    

o Placement Tools (ccbcmd.edu)

o Students can provide documentation dated within the last 5 years indicating any of the scores detailed below. Submit your official documents/final high school transcript to the Registrar’s Office and send a copy to testingcenterappoint@ccbcmd.edu. Testing Center will contact you about your next steps.

• F-1 Visa student should be referred to ISS

• If students express they need accommodations ( may say they had a 504 or IEP) connect with DSS @ ext3832 or dssccbc@ccbcmd.edu.

• ECAP: Refer to ECAP link on web page to answer questions Early College Access Programs (ccbcmd.edu)

 If the student does not have an ID# or just have questions about classes or pathways they should be encouraged to connect with admissions as part of the recruitment process.

 

 If student wants information on their credits: Advise they can look up their transcripts in SIMON or look up their degree audit in DegreeWorks. They can also be referred to Academic Advisement.

 

 Changing of majors can be done by mailing in a form, dropping it off in person, in SIMON or via email. Link for the form attached
