Overview
Remote access allows authorized individuals to access certain CCBC internal IT resources from off campus. Many CCBC services are available over the Internet and do not require remote access (for example: Outlook email, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 web tools).
Internal resources that are protected behind the CCBC firewall can only be accessed remotely using a CCBC-managed solution. At CCBC, remote access is provided through VDI (VMware Horizon).

Process
- Anyone requesting remote access must provide justification showing an essential or emergency business need.
- Telework alone is not considered justification. The request must support an essential or emergency business need.
- All individuals requesting remote access to CCBC IT resources not directly available via the Internet must complete the Remote Access Request Form (SharePoint).
- Completion of current cybersecurity training is required for anyone requesting remote access.
- Employee requests: The employee’s supervisor and department/unit Vice President must approve the request.
- Vendor/contractor requests: Requests must be submitted by the vendor/contractor’s CCBC sponsor and approved by the sponsor’s department/unit Vice President.
- After department-level approvals are received, the request must be reviewed and approved by:
- Information Assurance Team
- Chief Information Officer
- Vice President of Administrative Services
- If approved, access permissions will be granted for the appropriate remote access solution (VDI / VMware Horizon). If additional details are needed, the requester may be contacted.
